St. Beda study House is located at Ceder Road house no. 23, under Regiment Parish in the Arch- Dioceses of Lusaka in Zambia. It is under the authority of the Council of the Congregation of the Missionary Benedictine Monks of Saint Ottilien. It was established in 2019 to help students from various Monasteries from in Africa to carry out their studies in Zambia.

---------------------------------------------------

It was first intended to be a house of Theologian students at St. Dominic’s a Major seminary and the first two students who came in Zambia from Tanzania came for Theological studies in 2019. Since the study house was a family residential house, the Rector, the Bursar and the first theologian students, had to reside at the seminary for one first semester waiting for the renovation of the house. It was in 2020 when the Rector, the bursar and the students started residing at St. Bede Study House. However, some students from Katibunga Monastery who were studying in Lusaka joined them. As such that the first community had seven members, two formators, two theologian students and three students who were doing secular studies.

The formators from then up to date are; the Rector Fr. Johhanes Adom OSB from the Incarnation Abbey of Agbang in Togo and the Bursar Br. Simeon Musonda OSB from St. Theresa of Lisieux Priory Katibunga in Zambia. The first two theologian students were Fr. Leo Bhuraheze OSB from Holy Spirit Abbey-Mvimwa in Tanzania and Br. Basil Mocha OSB from Our Lady Help of Christians Abbey-Ndanda in Tanzania, and the three were doing Secular studies; Br. Martine Sampa OSB from St. Theresa of Lisieux Priory-Katibunga, Br. Valerian Mwansa OSB from St. Theresa of Lisieux Priory-Katibunga and Br. Alphonce Mulolani OSB from St. Theresa of Lisieux Priory-Katibunga.

Moreover, in August 2020 the congregation not only admitted students for theological studies but also for philosophical studies at St. Bonaventure University. The first Philosophy students were Br. John Mwaura OSB from Prince of Peace Abbey-Tigoni in Kenya, Br. Cyprian Burra OSB from Our Lady Help of Christians Abbey-Ndanda in Tanzania, Augustine Opita OSB from Holy Spirit Abbey-Mvimwa in Tanzania and Br. Adolf Kumalija OSB from Our Lady Help of Christians Abbey-Ndanda in Tanzania. The students who study at St. Dominic’s Major Seminary do walk or cycle to school since it only take 20 minutes for a normal walk and 10 minutes cycling. Whereby St. Bonaventure students do go by bus for it takes 30 minutes driving.

So, the community at St. Bede Study House has grown slowly from a community of five to a community of fourteen members, twelve students and two formators. It currently accommodates students from Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya Monasteries. Currently, the community have the following members;

1.     Fr. Johannes Adom OSB-Rector (Agbang Abbey).
